So Many Ways to See Art Today
Ingrained group show is on view...
And you can see it this weekend! The Georgetown Art Center is open Saturday from 10-6, or if you prefer, message me for a private tour on Friday or Sunday. This show really comes alive in person, and I'd love to share it with you.
If you're staying home to stay safe--like I was up until hanging this show--I'm excited to share all the virtual ways to see the gallery and connect with me and my co-artists.
At the invitation of Texas arts publication Glasstire, we created a five-minute video, which feels like a private tour! We are honored to have our exhibition highlighted on their website alongside an amazing lineup of shows from galleries and museums across the state.
You can "walk" through the Georgetown Art Center and zoom in on every piece of art with our Virtual Tour. Creating this was one of the many technology firsts for our group (and me) and I'm really happy with how it turned out. You can even use a VR headset (if you have one lying around) to get the fully immersive experience!
The day after our in-person opening, we hosted (and recorded!) an online artist talk. It was certainly a challenge to talk about a show when we weren't able to invite our viewers to be in the space with us. I hope you enjoy watching our slide presentation and discussion about how our group formed, why we each work on wood and highlight the wood grain, and what inspired the specific pieces on display.
And speaking of technology, in the midst of finalizing and hanging the Ingrained group show, I was honored to have my painting "Cameron Loop I" selected for the Texas Now juried show at Artspace111 in Ft. Worth. With a virtual tour, video and an extended market called theTexas Now Online Showcase--they set the bar for how to continue showing art during the pandemic.
I'm grateful to their owners and staff for the opportunity to have my work hang with so many talented artists from my home state!
Finally, I'd like to express my gratitude to fellow artists Caroline Walker, Linda Wandt and Thomas Cook for all the hours they put into helping create these viewing alternatives for our group show "Ingrained". When we started planning our exhibition last year, none of us could have imagined opening during a pandemic. Not only did we all continue to create new work after a shutdown, shelter in place and lost studio spaces, but we also rose to the challenge of finding news ways to experience the show. I hope you enjoy and will share what we've created!
